Yuko Mohri is an artist who creates multidisciplinary works including sculpture, installation, and two-dimensional works. Her focus lies not on composition (or construction), but on “events” and “incidents” that constantly change in response to environmental conditions, and on the “movement” inherently present within them. She was born in 1980 in Kanagawa, Japan. She received an MA in Inter-media Art from Tokyo University of the Arts. In 2015, Mohri received a grant from the Asian Cultural Council for a six-month residency in New York. That same year she received the Nissan Art Award Grand Prix. In 2016, Mohri was an artist-in-residence at the Victoria and Albert Museum, London, and Camden Arts Centre, London. In 2018, she became an East Asian cultural exchange envoy, visiting four cities in China. In 2019, she received a grant from the Institut français for a three-month residency in Paris. She was awarded the Calder Prize 2025.
