Mrs. Yuki
Mrs. Yuki is an artist duo formed in 2009 between Rintaro Hiramine (b.1983) and Tomomi Okubo (b.1982). Through breeding and raising ball python, a spieces of large snakes inhabitant in African and Asian continent, the artists incorporate biological experiments and practices into the process of their art-making. In 'Footprint' (2016), Mrs. Yuki released their pet snakes into a canvas-shaped mud of mortar and let them draw trajectories of their movement. The work explores and crosses the boundary between painting and sculpture, abstraction and calligraphy, humans and reptiles.
